Teaching Enterprise Project

Teaching Enterprise Project (TEP) is a 6-month project for the Year 3 Business students in NYP.

In the Diploma in Mass Media Management (DMMM), I was working in two stopovers for my final year, Production and Digital Media Management (DMM).

We were given opportunities to work with clients such as National Heritage Board.

Here are the projects I have worked on in TEP.

Additionally, TEP has allowed me to gain the following skills:

- Problem solving

- Self-motivation

- Creativity in content creation

- Time management

- Self-awareness on strengths and weaknesses

Industry Project: National Heritage Board

During my Digital Media Management stopover, I was working with National Heritage Board to market for its annual Singapore Night Festival (SNF). â€‹

I was heavily involved in ideating content for SNF. As the camera operator, I ensured the filming went smoothly and directed the talents. I was also in charge of generating the winners of the giveaways.

Through this project, I learnt the creative aspects of content creation for social media. For the IG reels, we utilitised the green screen in the campus' Media Studio to showcase the festival.

Industry Project: National Day Parade

I volunteered to take part in a poster design project for National Day Parade 2024.

The poster is a commemoration for Singapore's 59th birthday and was created with Adobe Indesign and Adobe Photoshop.

In this project, I was part of a multi-camera production crew as a camera operator. Together with the rest of the crew, we demonstrated how multi-camera production works and created a video featuring award winners.

DMM: Social Media Head

As the Social Media Head of the DMM stopover, I led the team in creating content and was in charge of managing NYP DMMM's Instagram and TikTok pages.

To segment our content,

I brainstormed and created multiple series for our social media platforms:

  • Prank-lt! - IG reel and TikTok video uploaded biweekly. The Prank-It! series focuses on short and entertaining content for youths.

Through my experience as the Social Media Head, I learnt to be creative with ideas to attract our target market. I also got to work with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects while editing the videos.

Catch+

In the DMM, we managed a publication, Catch+, where we publish news stories in the following segments:

1) Personalities

2) Our Voice

3) Lifestyle

4) Happenings

Stories I have written:

Writing these articles has allowed me to explore different writing styles and finding my own. I also gained experiences in events like GastroBeats when I went to interview for the story.

Feature Videos

1) Day in the Life of a Student/Athlete featuring Ethan Yuen

2) DJs for a Day featuring 987

Featuring Ethan Yuen, a national swimmer, the team produced a video where Ethan shows his day-to-day routine, from waking up at 4.45AM to gym, attending school during the day and going for trainings after school.

I have also edited a trailer (click to watch) for this feature video. â€‹

Featuring 987 DJ Joakim Gomez, the team tried DJ-ing for a day! We headed to the Mediacorp campus where we learnt the basics of DJ-ing, guided by Joakim.

For both videos, I was the Director of Photography, in charge of framing of shots and handling the camera. Through these projects, I have understood the behind the scenes of being a national athlete, and a radio DJ.

I was also exposed to shot variations with 'Day in the Life of a Student' with the underwater scenes.

What's Your Take - Breaking Barriers
Producer, Director, Editor

NYP On Air is a segment by NYP DMMM featuring videos done by final year students during the Production stopover.

Breaking Barriers:

Synopsis: Today, one in ten youths suffer from mental illness. Stereotypes on mental wellbeing have been a concern in society. We invited five youths from different backgrounds to discuss their opinions on mental wellbeing. Are stereotypes regarding mental health prevalent among Gen Zs in Singapore?

In this project, I was the producer and explored the topic of mental health in Singapore. Through this project, I gained problem solving skills and critical thinking skills when I had to act on the spot during production and guide my crew accordingly.

NYP On Air
Up-Close - Repainting Traditions
Producer, Director, Editor

Synopsis: Recently, there has been a decrease in appreciation of traditional arts. In this segment, we visit the only standing traditional Chinese calligraphy business in Singapore, Yong Gallery, to find out their views on dying arts in Singapore.

In this project, I was the producer and was in charge of the video in all stages of production. I gained exposure to the traditional arts scene through this project. As a producer, I was responsible to liaise with Yong Gallery and executed my production skills well.
